I've been trying to think of the best way to encourage any readers of my posts how to approach Election Day tomorrow.  One of the most important things I can think of to say is simply this: elections have consequences.

When you cast your ballot tomorrow (Not sure where to vote? Visit the Board of Elections website) remember to choose a leader for each office that not only represents the values you believe are the best, but also the candidate who you believe is the best, with the greatest integrity and vision for our City, County and Commonwealth.

My scripture verse for the day provided the perfect explanation:

"But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.  Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness."  James 3:17-18 NIV

I want a wise leader who is peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere - a leader who will sow in peace and reap a harvest of righteousness in his or her work for Hopkinsville, Christian County and Kentucky.

These are among the things leaders should be, myself included, without regard to party affiliation.  Remember, elections have consequences.  Let's take an active role in electing those who are the best by these standards rather than our own.

"Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God." Romans 13:1

Note: The Kentucky New Era has published a profile on each of the Mayoral candidates (paywall) in Hopkinsville, which I highly recommend.  Unfortunately, Jason McCraw chose not to participate, but Carter Hendricks, Willie Kendrick and Joey Pendleton did.
