Senator Whitney H. Westerfield was sworn in Tuesday afternoon in the Senate Chamber in Frankfort, Kentucky, beginning a four year term representing the 3rd Senate District. Various housekeeping matters were addressed during the brief session, and members welcomed family and loved ones on the Senate Floor for the day's festivities. Sen. Westerfield gives special remembrance to his father, Tom Westerfield, who passed away in the fall of 2012 from a farming accident. Westerfield said, "it's a bittersweet day to celebrate with my wife, Amanda, my mother and my brothers, but without Dad. He would have thoroughly enjoyed the work I'm beginning here."
